Weapons
Weapons what are your uses?
You are too ignorant to
Work by yourselves
You need to manipulate man in order
For you to seem significant
Why?
You like to see people suffer because of
Your protection
Weapons what are your uses?
Weapons, you are
Honored as machinery to protect
You are misleading humankind
You have another purpose, another vindictive scheme
You like to see sadness let’s see some…
Weapons you are phony
Weapons what is your true use?
What is your true identity?
Why do people love your nature?
I really like that this poem is speaking to an object, demanding answers. It also shows pieces of yourself and your causes - things you stand for. I think it would have been more effectful, though, if you incorporated an example of the saddness you have mentioned that weapons bring, so that it can illustrate your point with a powerful picture (i.e, a child getting shot in a driveby)
ReplyDeletei am very supportive of gun control and weapon control so i really enjoyed your poem. You brought about all the right points about why having weapons are an awful idea. The poem makes you second guess their nature and why even have them so good job.
ReplyDeleteI like your constant use of personification throughout the poem. It goes with the theme of weapons having power.
ReplyDeleteI feel that this poem is very strong especially comparing it to the same poem before the revision. This revision came out great, but I still would like to see much more imagery instead of descriptions.
ReplyDeleteThis poem makes the weapons seem decadent and evil but I believe that guns don't kill people...people kill the people, guns just make it easier...This poem makes the weapons seem decadent and evil but I believe that guns don't kill people...people kill the people, guns just make it easier...In the history of wars, whoever had the better weapons would almost always win. Whether driven by impetuosity, need of security or hunger for power, people will foremost turn to weapons for help.
